Marta Bicego: Borders
9–11 October 2026
Opening Friday 9 October

The project revolves around the theme of the border, a concept as physical as it is abstract. Starting from a stereoscopic viewer, the View-Master, Marta Bicego has made four reels containing images taken from Google Street View. The selected images come from four borders: the one between Gorizia and Nova Gorica, the one between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the one of the former Independent Republic of Nagorno Karabakh and the one that crosses the areas inhabited by the Kurdish population. Places that today as in the past represent a complex reality, in which the concept of the border cannot be reduced to a line on a map. Google’s application presents itself as a modern archive of images that exist only in their virtual dimension, extracted from their context or place. We can only look at them and develop hypotheses about what we see: a square, a car by the river, the inner courtyard of a house.
